Launched Two Study in Japan Information Corners in Brunei

Okayama University has opened two new Study in Japan Information Corners in Brunei as part of the “Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office).” In establishing these information corners, we received valuable support from the Brunei Association of Japan Alumni (BAJA) and the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam. The new corners have been set up at Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, one of the nation’s leading science-focused secondary schools, and at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), the country’s top national university. To make this initiative possible, informational materials were provided by 20 Japanese higher education institutions, primarily those offering English-taught degree programs, as well as by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). With their cooperation, the installation of the information corners has been successfully completed. In conjunction with the installation schedule, we also participated in several promotional events across Brunei, including the Higher Education Expo and two major international schools. At these events, we provided Study in Japan information to high school and university students aspiring to pursue their studies in Japan. Once again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who have made our activities possible through their generous support. Okayama University will continue to enhance its efforts to promote studying in Japan in Brunei, further strengthening information provision and support for local students.

Organized a Study in Japan Seminar in Indonesia

Okayama University hosted the Study in Japan seminar on 9 February at the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia and Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Indonesia, with support from Tohoku University. The event was organized as part of the Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office). The program began with an overview of studying in Japan and an explanation of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), presented by the JASSO Indonesia Office. This was followed by a presentation from the Embassy of Japan outlining the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship—Embassy Recommendation. As part of the project, we introduced the “Study in Japan Roadmap,” which provides a clear summary of the steps required to prepare for admission to undergraduate programs at Japanese universities. The session concluded with Tohoku University’s introduction of "Gateway College", its forthcoming English-taught undergraduate program scheduled to launch in 2027. During the Q&A session, participants engaged actively with the speakers, raising numerous thoughtful and insightful questions. We will continue to work closely with our partner institutions in both Indonesia and Japan to further enhance support for Indonesian students aspiring to pursue their studies in Japan.

Co-Organized the Study in Japan Fair 2026 in Malaysia

As part of the “Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office)”, Okayama University co-organized the Study in Japan Fair 2026 (Malaysia), hosted by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), on January 24 and 25, 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A total of 27 institutions participated in the fair, including 21 Japanese universities, vocational schools, Japanese language institutes, and related organizations. Over the two-day event, 1,015 high school and university students attended. At each institution’s booth, participants received university brochures and a wide range of information about studying in Japan, along with opportunities for individual consultations. At our project booth, comprehensive guidance was provided, including introducing universities and programs aligned with students’ academic interests, advice on how to find prospective supervisors for master’s and doctoral programs, and detailed information on scholarship opportunities. From Okayama University, Associate Professor BULIN AUBRA LEAH of the Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) participated. She introduced the curriculum of the English-taught undergraduate program, the Global Discovery Program (GDP), as well as programs offered by Japanese higher education institutions and university life in Japan. Okayama University will continue to promote the appeal of studying in Japan and strengthen support for Malaysian students aspiring to pursue higher education in Japan.
