Co-Organized the Study in Japan Fair 2026 in Malaysia

As part of the “Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office)”, Okayama University co-organized the Study in Japan Fair 2026 (Malaysia), hosted by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), on January 24 and 25, 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A total of 27 institutions participated in the fair, including 21 Japanese universities, vocational schools, Japanese language institutes, and related organizations. Over the two-day event, 1,015 high school and university students attended. At each institution’s booth, participants received university brochures and a wide range of information about studying in Japan, along with opportunities for individual consultations. At our project booth, comprehensive guidance was provided, including introducing universities and programs aligned with students’ academic interests, advice on how to find prospective supervisors for master’s and doctoral programs, and detailed information on scholarship opportunities. From Okayama University, Associate Professor BULIN AUBRA LEAH of the Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) participated. She introduced the curriculum of the English-taught undergraduate program, the Global Discovery Program (GDP), as well as programs offered by Japanese higher education institutions and university life in Japan. Okayama University will continue to promote the appeal of studying in Japan and strengthen support for Malaysian students aspiring to pursue higher education in Japan.

Online Study in Japan Fair 2025 for Myanmar Successfully Held

Okayama University hosted the “Study in Japan Fair 2025 for Myanmar” online on August 29 and 30, as part of the“Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office).” The fair aimed to promote Study in Japan in Myanmar and to support the entire journey -from university admission to employment- by providing comprehensive information on application procedures, scholarships, job hunting, and career opportunities in Japan. The event was co-organized by the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar, Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA), and Okayama University, with cooperation from Myanmar-Japan Center for Human Resources Development (MJC), Myanmar-Japan Alliance Business Association, and Myanmar-Japan Platform for Human Resource Development. The fair consisted of three main components: 1) special website, 2) an online general information seminar, and 3) online group consultations. Throughout the fair, information on studying and working in Japan was provided to 2015 registered participants. The online general information seminar was attended by 289 participants from Myanmar. The event began with opening remarks from Mr. Shogo YOSHITAKE, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Dr. Myo Khin, President of MAJA, and Prof. SUZUKI Takayoshi, Vice President for International Affairs and Alumni of Okayama University. Following the opening session, 14 universities introduced their institutions, including Associate Professor Dr. Inamori from Okayama University. In addition, MAJA, MJC and Okayama University Japan Educational Information Center (OJEIC) provided essential information on studying in Japan and available scholarships. During the group consultations, 20 universities, along with the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar, MAJA and MJC held interactive sessions. A total of 824 Myanmar participants joined to hear presentations from each institution and directly ask questions to professors and current Myanmar students studying in Japan. In Okayama University’s session, Dr. HTOO HTOO SANDI KYAW an alumna of the university and currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, gave an introduction to the university. In addition, two Myanmar students currently enrolled at the University shared their study in Japan experiences, followed by a lively Q&A session. Okayama University remains committed to supporting Myanmar students who aspire to study in Japan by continuing to host fairs, seminars and other activities that provide essential information and guidance. ●About the “Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office)” Okayama University has been appointed to implement the "Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office)" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan since 2024. In this project, we aim to increase the number of international students from ASEAN to over 100,000 (double the number in 2023) in five years. Currently, we have nine overseas offices across six countries: Myanmar (Yangon and Mandalay), Thailand (Bangkok), Cambodia (Phnom Penh), Laos (Vientiane), Indonesia (Jakarta, Surabaya and the University of Indonesia) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).
