Why did you chose to study in Japan?

The reason why I chose to study abroad at the graduate level in Japan is that the research field being investigated in the current laboratory is unique and interesting and also related to my undergraduate thesis. Since my current research theme is novel and challenging, and previous reports are still rare, so it encourages me to study abroad in Japan and strengthens my determination to succeed. On top of that, when I started learning Japanese, I was surprised that the sentence patterns of Japan and Myanmar were similar, so I became more interested in Japanese culture, lifestyle, and their way of thinking. Most importantly, I think Japan will be a better choice not only for academics but also for my future career.

ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံကို graduate level အတွက် ရွေးချယ်ခဲ့တဲ့ အကြောင်းကတော့ လက်ရှိ ပြုလုပ်နေတဲ့သုတေသနရဲ့ထူးခြားပြီးစိတ်ဝင်စားဖို့ကောင်းတာရယ် နောက်တစ်ချက်က bachelor course က thesis နဲ့ ဆက်စပ်မှုရှိတာကြောင့်ပါ။ လက်ရှိ သုတေသနရဲ့ ဆန်းသစ်မှု နဲ့ ခက်ခဲမှုရယ် သုတေသနနဲ့ ပတ်သက်တဲ့ report ရှားပါးမှုတွေကြောင့် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံမှာ ဒီသုတေသနကို အောင်မြင်အောင် လုပ်နိုင်ဖို့ တွန်းအားတစ်ခုလည်း ဖြစ်စေခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဂျပန်စာကို စလေ့လာတဲ့ အချိန်မှာလည်း မြန်မာနဲ့ ဂျပန်ရဲ့ ဆင်တူတဲ့အပိုင်းတွေရယ် နောင် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံရဲ့ ယဉ်ကျေးမှုနဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ စဉ်းစားတွေးခေါ်မှုပုံစံတွေကြောင့် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံကို ပိုပြီးစိတ်ဝင်စားခဲ့ပါတယ်။နောက်ဆုံးတစ်ခုကတော့ ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံက အဆင့်မြင့်ပညာရေး level အတွက်တင် မဟုတ်ဘဲ နောင် future career အတွက်လဲ ကောင်းမွန်တဲ့ ရွေးချယ်မှု တစ်ခုလို့ ထင်မြင်မိလို့ပါ။

How did you prepare for studying in Japan?

During my final year undergraduate course, I had participated in research training conducted by Japanese professors dispatched by JICA project for Enhancement of Engineering Higher Education for Myanmar in June 2018. Thanks to this training, I was able to exchange our opinions and I also received valuable advice from professor (current academic advisor). From that time, I started reading previous papers related to my current field of study and at the same time, I contacted to the professor and prepared for my master's course. I also applied for scholarship under my advisor’s guidance and I was succeeded for tuition fees exemption. After I arrived in Japan, I got information from Chiba University Website and International Support Desk about JASSO scholarship and other Japanese organizations.

၂၀၁၈ခုနှစ် ရန်ကုန် နည်းပညာတက္ကသိုလ််မှာ နောက်ဆုံးနှစ် bachelor thesis လုပ်နေချိန်မှာ JICA ကအဆင့်မြင့်အင်ဂျင်နီယာ အဆင့်မြှင့် တင်မှုပရောဂျက်အနေနဲ့ ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံမှပါမောက္ခများက သုတေသန နဲ့ ပတ်သက်တဲ့ training ပြုလုပ်ချိန်မှာ ပါဝင်တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ပါသည်။အဲ့ဒီ trainingအတောအတွင်းသုတေသနဆိုင်ရာအကြံဥာဏ်နဲ့ကိုယ့်ထင်မြင်ချက်တွေကို ဖလှယ်နိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး ပါမောက္ခတွေနဲ့ရင်းနီးမှုရခဲ့ပါသည်။ အဲဒီအချိန်ကစပြီး လက်ရှိသုတေသနနဲ့ပတ်သက်တဲ့ အရင်က စာတမ်းတွေကိုစပြီးဖတ်ခဲ့တယ်တစ်ချိန်တည်းမှာပဲပါမောက္ခကိုmailနဲ့ဆက်သွယ်ပြီးmaster degree programအတွက်ပြင် ဆင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဆရာရဲ့လမ်းညွှန်မှုနဲ့ scholarshipကိုလည်းလျှောက်ထားခဲ့ပြီးကျောင်းလခကင်းလွတ်ခွင့်ရရှိခဲ့ပါတယ်။ဂျပန်ကိုရောက်ပြီးတဲ့အခါ နေထိုင်မှု ကုန်ကျစရိတ်အတွက် JASSO scholarship နဲ့ အခြား ပညာသင်ဆု ထောက်ပံ့ပေးတဲ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းများကို Chiba University ရဲ့ Information website/ International Support Desk က တစ်ဆင့် သိရှိခဲ့ပါတယ်။

How is your student life in Japan?

When I first arrived to Japan, I was trying my best to adapt and get familiar to the environment and teaching styles and research experimental equipment. I was very excited and at the same time, I had some struggles to manage with my studies and conduct my research all together. After a while, I was gradually got used to japan life style and living environment with my advisor’s guidance and with the help of lab members. Moreover, I worked part-time job as lab assistant in our lab which made me get used to the working environment and customs of Japan more easily. Besides taking the courses for master program, I took Japanese language class to improve my conversation skills. I was really fun and had a great time while learning Japanese with international students and warm hearted Japanese teachers. Before the COVID-19 pandemic period, I spent my free time to go sightseeing or visit some historic place around Chiba. Nowadays, I mostly spent my holidays with cooking Japanese dishes, watching movies and sometimes workout.

ဂျပန်ကို စရောက်တဲ့အခါ၊ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်နဲ့ရင်းနှီးအောင်၊သင်ကြားမှုပုံစံတွေ၊ သုတေသနဆိုင်ရာစက်ပစ္စည်းတွေနဲ့ရင်နှီးဖို့အကောင်းဆုံး ကြိုးစားခဲ့ပါတယ်။ course workအတွက် အတန်းတွေ တက်ရင်း သုတေသနအတွက် လက်တွေ့လုပ်ရမှာ ဖြစ်လို့အားလုံးကိုတစ်ပြိုင်တည်းလုပ်ဆောင်ဖို့ရာ စိတ်လှုပ်ရှားခဲ့သလို တစ်ဖက်မှာလည်း ရုန်းကန်ခဲ့ရပါတယ်။ ဆရာရဲ့ကူညီနားလည် ပေးမှုရယ် လမ်းညွှန်မှုနဲ့ တခြား lab member များ၏အကူအညီနဲ့ ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံရဲ့ လူနေမှုပုံစံမှာ တဖြည်းဖြည်း အသားကျလာခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် ဂျပန်လူမျိုးတွေနဲ့ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်နဲ့ ရင်နှီးမှုမြန်အောင် lab မှာ technical assistant အဖြစ် အချိန်ပိုင်းအလုပ်ကို လုပ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ နောက် master degree အတွက် လိုအပ်တဲ့ အတန်းတွေတက်တာအပြင် ဂျပန်စကားပြောဆိုမှုစွမ်းရည် တိုးတက်ဖို့ဂျပန်ဘာသာစကားသင်တန်းကိုလည်း တက်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ဂျပန်လူမျိုးဆရာဆရာမတွေကူညီဖေးမ တတ်ပြီး နိုင်ငံပေါင်းများစွာကကျောင်းသားတွေနဲ့အတူ ဂျပန်စာသင်ယူရင်းပျော်ရွှင်စရာအချိန်တွေအများကြီးရခဲ့ပါတယ်။ COVID-19 ကာလမရောက်ခင်ကတော့ အားလပ်ချိန်တော်တော်များများကို Chiba အနီးတစ်ဝိုက်မှာ လည်ပတ်ရင်း သမိုင်းဝင်နေရာအချို့လည်း အလည်အပတ်သွားခဲ့ပါတယ်။ Covid ကာလမှာတော့အားလပ်ရက်အများစုကိုဂျပန် ဟင်းလျာ ချက်ပြုတ်ကြည့်ရင်း ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်ရင်းနှင့် တခါတရံ workoutလုပ်ရင်းနဲ့ အချိန်ကုန်ဆုံးလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။

Any message and/or advice to those who wish to study in Japan?

Studying in Japan will give you some time tiring and happiness simultaneously. However, I think our genuine interest to learn and study can overcome any other reasons. Hence, the motivation should arise from your eagerness to learn a significant amount of knowledge and skills from the high-ranked universities in the world while enjoying the beauty of the country. Such motivation can get you through tiring course works and requirements and adjustments to new life. You need to be ready, both physically and emotionally and also prepare in every aspect such as academic background, language skills and basic knowledge about Japan. By doing so, you may able to release the tension at times and try to explore the place and can enjoy with every memorable moment of your life.

ဂျပန်မှာကျောင်းတက်ရင်းနှင့် ပညာယူတာကပျော်ရွှင်မှုရော ပင်ပန်းနွမ်းနယ်မှုတွေကို တစ်ပြိုင်နက်ပေးပါလိမ့်မယ်။ဒါပေမဲ့လည်း ကိုယ် စိတ်အား ထက်သန်ပြီး စိတ်ဝင်စားဖို့ကောင်းတဲ့ နယ်ပယ်တစ်ခု ကို လေ့လာဖို့အတွက်ကအခြားသော အကြောင်းအရာတွေကို ကျော်လွန်ပြီးဖြတ်သန်းနိုင်ဖို့ကိုယ်တိုင် ကြိုးစားအားထုတ်မှု ကအရေးကြီးပါတယ်။ ကြိုးစားအားထုတ်မှုနဲ့ ခိုင်မာတဲ့ background knowledge ရယ်ပေါင်းစပ်ပြီး ကမ္ဘာ အဆင့် မြင့်တက္ကသိုလ်ကသင်ကြားပေးတဲ့သုတေသနဆိုင်ရာ ကျွမ်းကျင်မှုတွေကိုသင်ယူဖို့ကိုယ် စိတ်ထက်သန်မှုလည်း ပေါ်ထွက်လာပါလိမ့်မယ်။ ဒီလိုလှုံ့ဆော်မှုတွေက course work တွေနှင့် နောက် အလုပ်ခွင်မှာ လိုအပ်မဲ့ လိုအပ်ချက်တွေကိုဖြည့်ဆည်းတဲ့အခါအသုံးဝင်ပါလိမ့်မယ်။ ရုပ်ပိုင်းဆိုင် ရာစိတ်ပိုင်းဆိုင်ရာရောအဆင်သင့်ဖြစ်လိုအပ်ပြီးပညာရေး နောက်ခံ၊ဘာသာစကားကျွမ်းကျင်မှုနှင့်ဂျပန်အကြောင်းအခြေခံဗဟုသုတတွေကိုပြင်ဆင်ထားဖို့လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။ဒီလိုပြု လုပ်ခြင်းဟာ ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံပညာသင်ကာလအတွင်းစိတ်ပင်ပန်းမှုကို ဖြေဖျောက်စေပြီး ကိုယ် focus လုပ်ရမဲ့ အရာကို အေးအေးဆေးဆေး ကြိုးစားနိုင်ပြီး တစ်ဖက်မှာလဲ ဂျပန် ရဲ့ လှပတဲ့ နေရာတွေကို သွားပြီးအပန်း ဖြေ ဖို့ ရနိုင်မှာပါ။
