What did you do before studying in Japan?
I worked in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Myanmar.
Why did you chose to study in Japan?
It is because; Japan has a great reputation of education institutions and Japan is the leading nations in the field of research, technology and many subjects. Moreover, Japan is one of the world’s leaders in the development of new environment-friendly technologies. Thus, I have confidence in that the study in Japan makes me more profession and the knowledge that I gained in Japan is very useful when I apply all in my country. Furthermore, there is a long and good relation between Japan and Myanmar in the past and the future. I can also build the good network between Japan and Myanmar which can support and give the solutions and ideas for the problems and difficulties that may be found in these countries.
How did you prepare for studying in Japan?
I got information from the underground arsenic contamination project in Myanmar. Myanmar Medical Research Council is working with Japanese University in the arsenic project and I got university information and enrollment criteria. Moreover, I studied Japanese language in my home country.
How is your student life in Japan?
When I just entered university, I couldn't understand the class because all classes were taught in Japanese language. The later is the most important in understanding University lectures. On the other hand, Because of corona virus infection and political situation in Myanmar, project for research work is stopped. Therefore, I changed my research title for continue study in Japan. Now, I am studying Japanese language to smoothen my study in Japan. Moreover, I am planning to work a part time job not only for financial burden but also for Japanese language studies.
Any message and/or advice to those who wish to study in Japan?
There are many things you need to take care before coming to Japan. If you are thinking of coming to Japan, you should collect information about your interested University and, I think it is advantageous to ask seniors. Additionally, it is also important to research and understand Japanese culture.
The most important thing is the language barrier. So, I advise that it is important to study Japanese language first. Studying abroad in Japan is both a challenge and an opportunity. Therefore, never give up for a chance for study abroad though it has some tasks.
